Get answers to common questions about Toner, gloss.
Toner and gloss longevity varies by hair porosity, shampoo frequency, and product choices. Expect results to last four to six weeks on average; shine can diminish sooner. Using color-safe, sulfate-free products and limiting heat styling will help extend the effect.
Yes, when applied by experienced colorists we choose gentle formulas and adjust processing time. For very porous or compromised hair we may recommend a bond-building pre-treatment or a milder gloss to reduce risk and protect hair integrity while improving tone and shine.
Toners and glosses primarily adjust tone and add shine; they do not significantly lighten hair. They deposit semi-permanent pigments and can slightly darken or enrich shades. For lift or major level changes, a lightening service is required.
Generally we apply toner or gloss during the same appointment immediately after lightening or color to perfect the shade. If you're coming from another salon, allow a week for any DIY products to settle; consult your colorist for personalized timing.
Toners and glosses add pigment and shine but they are not formulated for complete gray coverage at the root. For full gray coverage, a permanent color or root touch-up is recommended. Toner can blend and soften contrast between shades.
Use sulfate-free, color-safe shampoo and conditioner, wash with cool water, and limit washing frequency. Apply a weekly color-protecting mask, avoid excessive heat, and use UV-protective styling products to preserve tone and prolong the glossy finish between salon visits.
